最初ここの意味を '活動を再開する' と取ってしまい停止してたっけ？と若干混乱したのですが、ここでは '回復' のほうの意ですね。'back in business' は '帰ってきたぞ！' 的なニュアンスを持つ、いわゆる決まり文句のようです。 意訳すると「Airbnbは、我々は日本のビジネスへ戻ってきた、と述べた」のような感じでしょうか。

There are 50,000 listings available in the country, with another 23,000 rooms in hotels and traditional inns known as ryokan, ...

旅館 = 'traditional inns' なんですね。

感想

Airbnb、リスティングが回復していたと言うのは知りませんでした。記事によると民泊新法施行前の60,000件 -> 13,800件 -> 現在73,000件とのことなので、かなりのV字回復ですね。

周りの同僚たち（ほぼ外国人）は、一年前の「リスト削除祭り」でやられてた人がまあまあいて（予約がキャンセルになったりだとか）、それきっかけで日本の法律やレギュレーションの厳しさをdisっていた人が多かったです。

Uberなんかもレギュレーションに阻まれて日本で本格展開できていないサービスの一つですが、一年ほど前はどちらかというとUberの進出を許さない日本のレギュレーションの厳しさ＝保護主義的なところが槍玉に挙げられていたのに対し、今になって逆にU.S本国で問題噴出しているので、どっちもどっちなのかなあと言う気がしています。グレーゾーンに対する考え方の違いですね。

ともあれAirbnb、リスト回復してきたと言うのを知らない人結構いると思うので、教えてあげようと思います。

Impression

I've been a stranger to Airbnb for a year, I didn't know about their rebound from the new law in effect. Recovery from 13,800 to 73,000 in listing is exceptional (and even more than before the new law came into effect) !

I remember that many colleges complained about Japanese strict laws and regulations when Airbnb deleted most of inns from their listing, because some of them were forced to cancel their bookings.

I think 🤔 Uber is also one of the services which have been struggling to enter into Japanese market. A year ago when Uber tried to start their business in Japan, the situation was slightly different. Most of the people had criticized conservative strategy of Japanese regime at that time. It was like "Hey, this is Japan! No innovations!" kind of thing.

But now, I cannot say which was correct. Take a look 👀 at Uber in US, there are tons of issues and critics. I guess these differences between Japan and the others (mostly US) come from the way of thinking, especially how to treat "gray zone".

Anyway! I'll let my colleagues know that "Airbnb is back in Japan!".

感想

アメリカでは、おおむね総資産230万ドル〜あればお金持ち・裕福だと思われているとのこと。日本のいわゆる富裕層の定義だと総資産1億円から5億円とのことですが、記事では単に1億円持ってるだけじゃお金持ちじゃないよ〜と言っていてさすがアメリカという感じです。

驚きなのは、アンケート回答者のうち60%が10年以内にお金持ちになる予定だよ、と答えているところ！グラフを見ると実にミレニアル世代の80%！が将来お金持ちになる予定らしく、どんだけ自信満々なんだ...。 記事では対策のひとつとして「友達のSNS投稿を見ないようにする」とか書いてありますが、間違いなくそれだけじゃ達成できないと思うんだけどどうなんでしょう。もしかして、日本とはいろいろ経済状況が違うのかなあ〜と思いました。

According to the article, you should have over a net worth of $2.3M to be considered as rich by almost everyone in the U.S.

Wow yeah this is America 🇱🇷! Because in case of Japan 🇯🇵, it's over ¥100M (slightly less than $1M) to ¥500M based on the definition of "the wealthy", while you're not considered as wealthy even if you have $1M in America.

What I was surprised the most was that 60% of respondents said they'll be rich within 10 yrs! But how? I can't believe that the graph shows around 80% of millennials are supposed to be rich, what a firm confidence they have!

I'm pretty sure it's not enough, way far if "try not to see friend's SNS posts" is the only strategy 😂! But wait... does it mean the economic climate in America is super different from the one in Japan? Yeah, maybe.

感想

'S-Booster' という政府主催のプログラムきっかけではじまったそうで、他にどんなアイデアがあったのかが気になりますね。

天気予報とかでよく見る、風速可視化したやつの超精度の高いB2Bバージョンと言う感じでしょうか。 これでより予想がうまくいくようになったとして、無駄な燃料を積まない、ってことになので若干恐ろしくもあります。でもサーチャージ的なものが安くなるのならば、選んじゃうかも。

Impression

This joint research project is based on 'S-Booster' which is conducted by Japanese Government, according to the article. I'm so curious about the other ideas from 'S-Booster'.

It sounds a bit scary because if this research works well and rolls out in practice, it means the aircrafts of ANA won't carry 'useless' fuels. But who knows?

If the price of fuel surcharge decrease as a result of this research, I might choose flights from ANA, though.

感想

自動運転ということで、最近できたのかな？と思いきや、なんと1989年から運行していたとは！しかもその間ずっと無事故だったとは！驚きです。 早く原因究明されると良いですね。

I thought this train system might be started operating relatively recently because of the word 'self-driving train', but in fact, it started in 1989! Moreover, there has been no incident! That's amazing! I hope the cause will be found soon.

マハティール首相、とにかく褒めまくってます。

ちょっと記事の内容とはずれますが、このお方は90を超えてから首相にカムバックして以来、汚職を減らすのに尽力したり一帯一路政策について中国に物申したり、本当にすごいですね。敬称にDrがついているのは元医者だからかな？

それにしてもマレーシアへ留学！マレーシア好きとしては羨ましい限りです。いま学生に戻れるなら、何かしら可能性を探してたかもしれないなあ。

Yes, Dr Mahathir kept praising praising praising everything about Malaysia and it's environment. And I totally agree with him.

Maybe it's a slightly different topic from this article itself, but I was really amazed what he has accomplished since then he had came back to power as a Prime minister. For example, he has been making so much effort to get rid of political corruptions, claimed about inequality of 'one belt one road' initiative to China, and so on and so forth.

Anyway, studying in Malaysia, I'm soooo jealous! 😂 If I were a high school student, yes I would consider studying in Malaysia, for sure.

Thinking of “entertainment during sleeping”, I have to say for me it is a night before the Christmas Day in my childhood. Of course I love everyday’s sleeping, but it was definitely one of the most exciting day. What a wonderful if I can feel the same excitement again!

GoT、実をいうと全く見てない（！）のですが妻が突然ハマって熱狂していたので、なぜかオープニングテーマは歌えます。突然世界的スターになったがゆえの苦悩、ということでしょうか。

と思ったのですが、なんと2011年からやってるんですね！これはたいへんだ…。長期間、ものすごいプレッシャーとハードワークの連続だったんじゃないかな〜と思います。ゆっくり休んでもらいたいですね。

To be honest, I haven't watched GoT (Game of Thrones) but I know it's insanely popular all over the world. Somehow I can sing the opening song of GoT, because my wife has been very into it 😂 It's an instrumental, though.

Return to the article. At first, I guessed his suffering mainly came from the changing in environment because he became a star world wide in a short period of time, and it sounds one of the typical distress of "raising star".

But then, I realized that GoT was started in 2011! What a long time, and I can't imagine how hard it had been. Super high pressure, stress, and hard working...
