感想

タイトルは'AI Cameras'となっていますが、要はカメラで撮影した動画・画像からFace detection(顔検知)で顔・表情を検知して、それをAIで解析して色々なことに使われてますよーと言う話。
面白いというか変なのは、年齢や性別だけでなく「感情」も読み取って広告に活かしたりしているらしい。あくまでもこう言う意図でも使えるからまずいよね、という例えとして触れられていますが、例えば店舗で検知した'unhappy'な人に対して抗うつ剤の広告を出したりすることも可能とのこと。

今の所は全然魅力的に感じませんが、例えば将来AI搭載のロボットとかが店内を徘徊するようになったりして、お客さんに話しかけながらアシストするようになったりなんかした時には役立ってくるのかな？お客さんの表情からコンディションを読み取って会話に活かしたりなんかして。
なんとなく、おじいちゃんになった自分がアシスタントロボットとの会話目当てに毎朝せっせとスーパーマーケットに通っている姿が思い浮かびました...。おじいちゃん今日も変わらずお元気そうですね〜、いやいやおたくも変わらないね〜ロボットだけに、ちゃんと充電してきたかい？なんて調子で。

Impression

It's an article about how 'AI Cameras' are used at real stores like retail outlets, supermarkets, or shopping centers (I guess 'AI' and 'Cameras' works separately, though). The strange part of this topic is that they analyze not only age and sex of consumer, but also emotion. So it's technically possible to display some ads of anti-depression medicines for some persion who looks 'unhappy', this article says.

I don't think it's attractive at all for now, but I can imagine that it might be very useful in the future if many assistant robots with AI help customers at store, because robots can utilize customers' emotion and condition based on their facial expression for communication. It'll be something like 'You look not so good, are you OK?'.

Oh a possible situation about the future of myself just comes to my mind... I myself who became an old man, visit a supermarket every morning for the purpose of having conversation with kind, gentle assistant robot...

👨‍🦳 'Thanks, you too! Although you never look different, haha. Have you charged your battery, anyway?'
